David’s bio
As a young adult, I had a realization at a time when I was deeply suffering…
“I’m the only one who will truly ever have the power to make a change for myself.”
I intuitively knew that at the root of my suffering was a lack of connection in my mind, body, and spirit. At the time, I knew nothing about yoga, meditation, or any kind of spiritual practice. I did not exercise and smoked cigarettes despite my body distinctly rejecting the habit with bouts of asthma. Not a great direction I was heading.
One day, as I lay on the floor feeling desperate and helpless and not able to love myself, I asked out loud for my life to change in a direction that would create harmony in my mind, body, and spirit. A couple weeks went by and a friend ask me to go with him to a Kung Fu class he wanted to try out.
I went, and it was a grueling experience.
But some part of me knew this was exactly the opportunity I had asked for… so I went back again… and again… and again.
My friend lasted a couple weeks, but I continued and delved deep into the practice for the next several years. It helped me overcome both real and imagined limitations. It also helped me uncover hidden virtues and strengths that paved the way for me to make changes in the rest of my life.
The experience ultimately took me in a direction aligned with my goal of living and healing through a conscious connection with mind, body, and spirit.
It took an initial action and then repeating that action over and over to change my course.
As part of my martial arts training, I learned about ways to heal naturally like massage, herbal remedies and tinctures, chiropractic, etc. and was encouraged to do these things for myself and help others. As one of my elders in my Kung Fu lineage told me, “If you’re going to bother to learn how to hurt someone, you also better learn how to fix them too!”
I endeavored into massage therapy as a healing practice because of the simplicity of its nature and the way it is performed as combination of an art and a science. Like a dance, there is a rhythm and a flow that carries each session. Precision of pressure and technique is a necessary skill that takes years to hone.
I now dedicate my life to helping others overcome limitations they are experiencing.
I offer massage and bodywork in a non-judgmental, calm environment that promotes physical healing, letting go, and self-empowerment to make positive change.
